Today’s Tasting: Acts 18-19
In Acts 18, we see Paul ministering at Corinth. The people of Corinth opposed his teaching, but the Lord told Paul:
“Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you” (Acts 18:9-10 ESV).
Paul remained in Corinth teaching the Word of God for the next year and one half. The people were angered by this and Paul was beaten before the judgment seat. Paul then returns to Antioch. Apollos also became bold and started teaching in Ephesus.
In Acts 19, we see Paul returning to Ephesus. He baptized some disciples with the Holy Spirit and performed some extraordinary miracles. The name of the Lord Jesus was extolled.
“The word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily” (Acts 19:20 ESV).
We also see a riot breaking out in Ephesus where they worshiped the goddess Diana.
Today’s Nourishment: What is you focus today? Is it to be like someone else? To be known as a follower of a person? Or do you want to be known as a follower of Christ?
There is so much confusion around us just as the confusion of Ephesus. The people kept their heart turned toward the goddess Diana. What gods might keep you in confusion – the god of anything that keeps you from loving God as first and foremost in your life.
It is critical as believers that we keep our eyes focused upon Jesus Christ as our Lord and “the word of the Lord continue to increase and prevail mightily.”
We must know what the Bible says in our mind and in our heart to discern right from wrong, deception from truth. In these days we must understand what the Bible says about what is happening today and not be consumed by the ways and things of this world. Yes, it is challenging however, the promise of God has never changed.
Cry out to the Lord:
- To cause the Word of God to continue to increase and prevail mightily in your life today
- Give you discernment and wisdom to know how to stand against following other gods
- Set yourself apart from this world and it’s darkness
How is His Word increasing and prevailing mightily in you today? Share some good news with us: http://thebiblefeastblog.com
