Day Sixty-five – March 7: Today’s Tasting – Numbers 25-26: Some of Israel’s men defiled themselves by having sexual relations with the local Moabite women. The Moabite women enticed Israeli men to sacrifice to their gods, conning Israel to worship the gods of Moab, Baal of Peor. The Lord’s anger burned against Israel.
As one of the Israelite men took a Midianite woman into his tent, Eleazor, grandson of Aaron, grabbed a spear thrusting it all the way through the man’s body and into the woman’s stomach. Eleazor stopped a plague against Israel and purified them before the Lord.
The Lord favored Eleazor and decided to make a special covenant of peace with him. The covenant provided Eleazor and his descendants a permanent right to the priesthood.
Today’s Nourishment: That is the way the enemy of our soul conducts business. He starts out with the little things that entice and develops into deeper areas. Before you realize what happened, you spiraled into a situation you thought impossible. Whatever entices, think twice before submitting yourself to it. Usually enticement leads to greater harmful attractions.
Keeping our thoughts turned toward the covenant of peace, that Jesus the Son made with God, the Father for you and me, keeps us headed in the right direction. Walking in the Spirit remedies our wandering into idolatry.
I just received a phone call from my credit card company wanting to know if I had charged two charges less than $10.00 on line. They say that is the way fraud starts. A few small charges tested the charging ability. Con artist test the company with small charges, up front, to determine how much they may end up charging. Thankfully, I had made the charges.
Lord, today, I pray that you fill me with the Spirit. When I walk in the Spirit, I will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Jesus, I fall on your grace and mercy today to say that I need you. I cannot live the overcoming life in my own power. I yield to you and love you that you chose me to live inside me. I pray that I walk in the Spirit and not fulfill my desires.
Are you asking to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill your desires of the flesh?
