Day Twenty-six: January 26: Today’s Tasting: Job 26-29: “Job continued speaking: ‘As long as I live, while I have breath from God, my lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies.”
- I will never concede that you are right
- I will defend my integrity until I die
- I will teach you about God’s power
- I will not conceal anything concerning the Almighty
Job describes some great human feats, but he asked about human wisdom and understanding:
- Do you know where to find wisdom?
- Where do you find understanding?
- Is wisdom and understanding not found among the living?
Job describes true wisdom and understanding:
- God alone understands the way to wisdom
- He knows wisdom’s location
- God set wisdom in place
- The fear of the LORD is true wisdom
- To forsake evil is real understanding.
Today’s Nourishment: The Lord honors our respect, love, and humility toward Him by infusing His wisdom and comprehension in us for daily living. Wisdom equals insight while understanding equals comprehension. With maturity comes the desire for wisdom and understanding. Wisdom and understanding carry the capabilities to resolve life issues as they emerge. The fear of the Lord precedes true wisdom and understanding.
To find wisdom, we must first find the Lord. Wisdom develops with time. Wisdom develops as we ask for it. 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. [1] Ask for wisdom. When we ask the Lord for wisdom, it reveals our understanding of where wisdom derives—wisdom derives from the Lord Himself. When facing a task or relationship issue, stop for a moment and ask the Lord for wisdom and understanding.
To know Christ is to know wisdom. Paul describes wisdom and understanding in a person – the person of Jesus Christ, “to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.[2]
Lord, we want to walk with you today. We want the Christ-life revealed in our life issues as they emerge today. We ask for wisdom and understanding in our tasks and our relationships, as they emerge. Thank you for providing such things that no other may give.
