Today’s Tasting: Zechariah 10-14
Zechariah 10 contains the Lord’s promises to the people of Judah. It tells of how He cares for them and how it will be as if He never left them. Chapter 11 tells how the Lord is going to raise up a new Shepherd for his flock. David’s family and the people of Jerusalem will realize what they have done, and be sad. They will be cleansed of their sin and uncleanness. Chapter 14 tells about the Day of Judgment.
Today’s Nourishment: Today in church, our pastor talked about faith, specifically the faith of the people mentioned in the book of Hebrews, chapter 11. That chapter begins with “Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real, even if we do not see it” (v. 1, NCV).
While he discussed the faith of those popular of the Bible, amazing to me is the faith of all the not so popular people in the Bible. Such as the people who lived through the time when Zechariah was a prophet seemed to live with faith. Though God had allowed others to conquer them and sent them into exile, He still loved them. They believed his promise that
“I will strengthen the people of Judah and save the people of Joseph. I will bring them back, because I care about them” (Zechariah 10:6 NCV).
Despite all the hardships that the people of Israel went through, there were still many people worshipping the Lord when Jesus arrived, they witnessed God’s promises to His people being fulfilled before their eyes.
While looking to the ancients of the Bible’s faith inspires us, ordinary people’s faith journey may also inspire us.
Whose faith have you witnessed that inspired you?
Whose faith have you seen God’s promises fulfilled?
How have you witnessed God strengthening someone because of His care for them?

I have a very close friend who is going through some rough times right now in her marriage. Her faith and strength have inspired me. God is working and I am witnessing His promises fulfilled for her and her family. Praise God!
