Today’s Tasting: Daniel 7-9
These chapters of the book of Daniel are his recounting of a dream and visions he had and tell of a time very similar to what is in the book of Revelation. Chapters 7 & 8 tell of beast and rams and goats meant to represent the rise and fall of the various nations of that day. At the end of Chapter 8, the angel Gabriel appears to Daniel and explains the symbolisms from his dreams and tells him that part of his visions are about the distant future. In Chapter 9, Daniel realizes that the seventy years of captivity, which were described in the Book of Jeremiah, is about to come to an end so he prays to God for forgiveness and asks him to fulfill the promises he made concerning Jerusalem to the people of Judah. It is in this chapter that Gabriel appears again and details the timeline of the future, which includes Christs’ first and second coming.
Today’s Nourishment:
The imagery and symbology of these chapters is often hard to follow and even harder to understand. However, if we study them in conjunction with the Gospels and Revelation we realize that part of Daniel’s dreams and visions were fulfilled through Jesus and part of them are yet to come.
While they may seem a bit scary, they are a reminder to me that God has a divine plan and that in the end He will win over evil and those who believe in Jesus and follow Him will be heirs to this new Kingdom.

Monica, Knowing those in Christ win is encouraging to me. I like the way you handled these passages. These are difficult chapters to interpret and there are various ideas and interpretations. They are still for us today though, giving us hope for our future in the Kingdom of God.
I agree Carolyn the hope for our future in the Kingdom of God is encouraging and breaths life to me!
