What’s your forgiveness ratio? Jesus said that we are to forgive without counting. “In Bible Times, the dead body of a victim would decompose while strapped to the criminal who killed him. As the victim’s body decomposed, it stunk and caused the killer’s flesh to also decompose. The killer died a horrible death. Paul referred to this in Romans 7:24, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Not extending forgiving resonates as though carrying around the stench and decay of a dead body. Laurence Sterne said, “Only the brave know how to forgive…a coward never forgave; it is not in his nature.” Extending forgiveness comes from the new nature of Christ within. Colossians 3:13, “as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” What occurs when we extend forgiveness? We rid ourselves of the stench of decaying remains. Have you forgiven those who offended you? My next blog reveals my extending forgiveness.
Forgiveness. It is a theme here recently. A word the Lord keeps having me run into over and over again. And when He does that, I know it’s because He wants me to see something, to hear something, to understand something.
Only the brave know how to forgive…indeed. It can seem so hard. Yet how freeing it is when we finally let go. Looking forward to reading more here.
