Day Eighty-seven – March 29: Today’s Nourishment: Jesus is like our city of refuge. We commit the crime of sin, but we run to him for protection and freedom. Do you run to some one, or indulge in food, or some other avenue of escape. What is your escape from the heaviness and bondage of sin? Come to Jesus and live.
Today’s Tasting: Joshua 19:49-21:45/1 Chronicles 6:54-81: After dividing of the land into assigned territories for each tribe of Israel to occupy, they gave a piece of land to Joshua. Because the Lord said that he could have any land he wanted, he chose a town, rebuilt it, and settled there.
Joshua designated the cities of refuge as the Lord advised. One in particular, Hebron, became a city of refuge. Hebron was among the first places that Abraham built an altar and worshiped the Lord. Someone recently said that Hebron meant, “hard place.” If that is the case, the hard place became a safe place, city of refuge, for anyone who killed another person accidentally and unintentionally. Each city of refuge set up a government of elders to protect until the person presented their case to the local assembly, who rendered a judgment.
Tomorrow’s Reading: Joshua 22-24
