Day Forty-two: February 11 – Today’s Tasting – Exodus 32-34: Israel attempted to add worship of the Lord to their worship of idols. They had Aaron make idols with their gold. They decreed, “these are the gods who brought us out of the land of Egypt.” Moses descended the mountain and found them involved in pagan worship. This happened around fifty days from the time their exodus from Egypt. The time of God’s appointed Feast of Weeks occurred then. Three thousand died on the mountain as a result of worship of idols.
Today’s Nourishment: The Lord knew that we innately worship something or someone. His name, “Jealous, is jealous about his relationship with you,” and reassured Israel to worship Him alone. He set days and certain times of the year to worship Him. His first commandment, “You must not have any other gods but me” carved in the stones, which Moses carried down the mountain, was broken before Moses returned to the people at the base of the mountain.
What may have broken the heart of Jesus, disturbing your relationship with Him? What might you attempt to add to your worship of the Lord? Examine your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the god or gods, which you add to your worship of Him? He will reveal to you. We love Him because He first loved us. Oh, how He loves you and me. We thank you for your great love, Lord!
