Day Thirty-five: February 4 – Today’s Tasting: Exodus 10-12: The Lord continued to display His miraculous signs among the Egyptians. He did this so that all would know that He is the LORD. The final plagues torment the Egyptians, while the Lord makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites.
8. Locusts swarmed over the whole land, devouring the vegetation.
9. Darkness covered the entire land for three days. Pharaoh comes to the conclusion that Israel may worship their God, but with no animals. They needed animals to make sacrifices. Without sacrifice, no true worship occurred.
10. Egypt’s firstborn sons die, while the Israelites sons lived with peace. The distinction heralded the message of the LORD’S power. He wants His people to worship Him. Pharaoh conceded, begging Israel to go and worship the LORD as the requested from the start.
Israel’s salvation occurred by their act of faith. Instructions from the Lord: “Each household choose a one-year old lamb, with no defects. Slaughter the lamb. Take some of the blood and smear it around the doorframes of your houses. Eat the meat with bitter greens and bread made without yeast. Be fully dressed and ready to depart. The blood on your homes serves as a sign—when I see the blood, I will pass over you. The plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.”
You must celebrate this special festival forever – Passover, Unleavened Bread – to remind you of my greatness. Only the circumcised could partake of this festival.
Israel’s Exodus: Pharaoh asked for a blessing before Moses left his presence. Israel asked the Egyptians for clothing, gold, and silver. They stripped the Egyptians of their wealth. Israel departed like an army. The LORD brought them out. His distinctions between Israel and Egypt resounded loud and clear. The power of the blood saved the Israelites.
Today’s Nourishment: “No harm comes to you when I see the blood.” Oh, there is power in the blood, wonder-working power in the blood. For the Old Covenant believers, the blood of the lamb covered sin. For those who follow Christ, the blood of THE LAMB washes away sin.
Thank you Lord, for the power of your blood. It washes away the burden of sin. Praise you, Lord.
Write your praise of His blood:
