Today’s Tasting: 2 Corinthians 10-13
Paul’s ministry is ostracized, but he responds with boldness:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete (2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ESV).
“Boast only with regard to the area of Influence God assigned to us…Our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged. Boast in the Lord” (see 2 Corinthians 10:12-17 ESV).
False prophets hassle Paul and once again, Paul responds with boldness:
- If someone proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaim
- If you receive a different spirit from the one you received
- If you accept a different gospel than the one you accepted
Then, such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 11:1-15).
Paul suffers to spread the truth of the Lord Jesus. He discusses his visions and the way Christ’s power and strength rests upon him in his weaknesses and difficulties.
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10 ESV).
“Christ is powerful among you and in you…Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you” (see 2 Corinthians 13:1-4 ESV).
Paul greets the Corinthian Church with:
- The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
- The love of God
- The fellowship of the Holy Spirit
Be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV)
Today’s Nourishment: Paul greeted the Corinthian Church with aspects of the Trinity: God’s love, Jesus Christ’s grace, and the Holy Spirit’s fellowship. I would like to greet you with the same aspects of the Trinity:
- The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
- The love of God
- The fellowship of the Holy Spirit
Be with you all. (See 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV).
God: He is Father, He is Son, He is Holy Spirit, and He is in you giving you divine power to destroy strongholds and helping you take lofty thoughts captive. He is the One who gives you power to influence others in their faith. He is the One who helps you discern false prophets. He is the One who is your strength in your weaknesses, hardships, and calamities. He is the One Who is the power in you to live in peace with others. He IS!
Lord, we praise YOU! For all that You are in us:
You impart divine power to us to destroy strongholds
You provide the power to take thoughts captive to bring into obedience to You
You give us power to influence others in faith
You help us discern those who preach false teaching
You are our strength in our greatest weaknesses
I know my limits and the things I cannot accomplish. You shine when I accomplish those things that I stretch beyond my limits. You give me strength during troubles and power to live in peace. I love and praise You for who You are in my life! Thank You for Your love, Your grace, and Your fellowship! May your love overflow, your grace abound, and your fellowship deepen in my life, in my family’s life, and in others’ lives today.
