What pressures of life squelch your studying the Bible? God’ Word seems like too much content to study and understand—too overwhelming. I agree. Much of the time, this normal reaction holds us back from studying the Bible. I know. I experienced the same thoughts and feelings. Yet, in various places, the Scripture admonishes believers to study God’s Word, not just read it. Together, we will attempt to diminish the famine of Bible comprehension and fellowship void, by developing study skills and learning from one another through interaction.
Why not start by studying from the Book of Psalms, the book also called “The Hebrew Prayer and Praise Book.” The New Testament quotes more than one hundred times from the Book of Psalms.
Psalm 119:
- Clarifies the necessity of studying God’s Word
- Unfolds the benefits from studying God’s Word
- Empowers relevance that His Word carries for our lives
What silences your fellowship with the Lord and with other believers? Comprehending the Bible generates fellowship with the Lord and others. “If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” [1]
“Persons, who try to find an intimate relationship with the Lord, apart from intimacy with others, places a danger of developing only an intellectual relationship. We were designed for loving relationship with God and with each other.”[2] “The experience of fellowship in our societies seem “so relationally disconnected that we can easily be in contact with hundreds of people a day and not make intimate connection with any of them.”[3] We experience relationship with the Lord through relationship with one another. Together, we will attempt to remedy the fellowship void by promoting interaction and community.
