God dwells in you! God dwells in us!
“ If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11
In other words, the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead, now dwells in you!
Those words amaze me. The God of all creation dwells in me! And you! as Christians! To live greater than ever! Unfathomable!
Who or What Dwells in You to Live Greater Than Ever?
I have always heard, whatever you consume physically is what you become. Consume junk food and you become a junk food junky!
Something similar happened to me a few years ago. I started coming down with airborne viruses and colds, almost monthly. Ending with shingles grabbed my attention to research and find out how to get out of these cycles of sicknesses and live greater.
Stronger to Live Greater Than Ever!
I started to consume extra Vitamin-C, B-12, and multiple vitamins. My health returned to fight off those dreadful sicknesses confining and restricting me from fully living. With a stronger immune system, life didn’t seem like drudgery any longer, but exciting! I felt alive again because of what dwelt in me – health, strength, and life!
The same principles may apply to our spiritual lives also. What have you consumed spiritually?
Is the Alive-and-Present God Dwelling in You? In Me?
“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:9-11 MSG)
When the alive-and-present God moves into our lives, He brings life. He fills us with His strength!

When God dwells in us…
Our bodies become stronger because our spirits and souls consume “spiritual vitamins” such as:
- Resting in Him
- Consuming His love
- Living in relationship of prayer
- Asking His Spirit to fill us
Then, we may live greater than ever because we have something to give others. All this isn’t to just consume on ourselves, but to give away.
When we give His fruit of love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, we practice the fruit of self-control. Our Father gives us more of His fruit to give again, and again…. It becomes a healthy rhythm of living in and loving with our Father’s love.
God Dwells In You…But Why?
“Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can’t bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can’t bear fruit unless you are joined with me. I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. . . This is how my Father shows you who he is–when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples. I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. . . Remember the root command: Love one another.” (See John 15:1-17 MSG)
God dwells in us to help us learn of His love and to know how to love others, which is all about living greater than ever. That is difficult if we aren’t abiding and resting in Him.
Recently, I confessed, Lord, Your fruit isn’t producing in me. I’m not resting in you. Please forgive me and help me to settle into your love and trust You in today’s life! You are in me. Your fruit will grow as I abide. Help me live greater than ever because You dwell in me!

Rhythms for Living Greater Than Ever
Since God dwells in us, both you and me, let’s enjoy our new lives day-by-day. Let’s practice the following rhythms and live greater than ever!
- Resting in Him
- Consuming His love
- Living in relationship of prayer
- Asking His Spirit to fill
