Day Sixty-three – March 4: Today’s Tasting: Numbers 16-18: The Levites rebel against Moses and Aaron. Their thoughts were that Moses and Aaron acted as though they were greater than the rest of the people. Yet, the Lord chose Aaron and his sons as the priestly tribe and the Levites as the tribe to care and maintain the Tabernacle. Thousands died because of rebellion when an earthquake swallowed up their lives and the lives of their families. A plague broke out and Aaron burned incense to the Lord to make atonement for the people.
Out of twelve staffs, Aaron’s staff sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds. This proved to the people the Lord’s choice for the priesthood and the Tabernacle care as a special privilege of service. At the Lord’s command, the priests and Levites took charge of all the holy offerings, allotting them portions of the offerings. “You priests will receive no allotment of land or share of property among the people of Israel. I am your share and your allotment. As for the tribe of Levi, your relatives, I will compensate them for their service in the Tabernacle. Instead of an allotment of land, I will give them the tithes from the entire land of Israel…Present a tenth of the tithes you receive to the Lord as a sacred offering…But be careful not to treat the holy gifts of the people of Israel as though they were common,” NLT.
“You shall not profane the holy things of the people of Israel, lest you die,” ESV.
Today’s Nourishment: Remember to offer the Lord the first of your income, as a tithe. Take seriously the gifts offered to the Lord, as holy, and not something taken lightly. Pray over each gift you offer to the Lord. Ask that He multiply. The gifts are not just common gifts, but gifts to further His kingdom.
What gifts do you offer the Lord?
