Today’s Tasting: 2 Timothy
I really lived with a spirit of fear as a child. Yet, as a Christian, my Heavenly Father is helping fear subside in me. Someone spoke a word to me years ago that didn’t know that I was memorizing,
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment (2 Timothy 1:7 HCSB).
His words were 2 Timothy 1:7 verbatim. I was so surprised, yet, enthralled at how my heavenly Father would use another Believer to speak His Word to me in such a specific way.
Since then, God has loved me into realizing that He has called me to a holy calling of loving Him, His Word, and people. Paul encouraged Timothy with these same words in 2 Timothy and continued to encourage with:
- Die to self and you will live with Him
- Endure and you will reign with Him
He remains faithful! (see 2 Timothy 2:11-13 ESV).
I encourage you with the words written by Paul to Timothy, but God breathed:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for:
- To make you competent
So, preach this Word in and out of season:
Reprove – tearing away of what doesn’t belong
Rebuke – revealing areas of sin and gratifying the flesh
Exhort – building up your spirit and soul
(See 2 Timothy 3:16-4:2).
Today’s Nourishment: The Lord has a holy calling on your life to love Him, His Word, and people. He will lead you to minister to others as you love Him and His Word. And when He leads you, go with “No Fear,” but love, power, and sound judgment to preach and teach the gospel, whether in word or deed, He remains faithful to you!
Lord, I accept the holy calling on my life. I cast down any spirit of fear. Lead me in a spirit of love, power, and sound judgment to love You, Your Word, and people. I choose to die to self and live with You, to endure and reign with You. Your Scripture is breathed and profitable for me to communicate to others to build them up in spirit and soul. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
