Today’s Tasting: Joshua 12-15: The Israelites defeated thirty-one kings and conquered most of the Land of Promise. Joshua lived a long life, but more land remained unexplored and unconquered. God said that He would drive out the enemy from a portion of the land. However, as for the enemies that Israel was responsible to drive out, some enemies still remained.
The Levites received the “Fire-Gift-Offerings” to God and the God of Israel as their inheritance.
Boundaries were set for the Reubenites and Caleb received an inheritance. Then, the land rested from war.
“The people of Judah couldn’t get rid of the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem. The Jebusites stayed put, living alongside the people of Judah. They are still living there in Jerusalem” (Joshua 15:63 MSG).
Today’s Nourishment: Israel won victories as they depended on the Lord’s strength and courage. Yet, they couldn’t drive out part of the enemy, so Israel lived alongside of some of the “ites.”
As I read today’s passage, I saw how we, too, allow some of our past behaviors to linger after coming to Christ. Our enemies remain in areas as long as we allow them. We may need to drive out some “ites” from our lives that remain. What are some “ites” in your life that still remain from your former way of life?
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10 ESV).
What “ites” remain that Jesus may give you victory over to live abundantly in Him? Living in Him is abundance.
Tomorrow’s Delight: Joshua 16-18

I realize some “ites” in my life this morning. I pray that the blood of Jesus conquer this area of my life. I pray resurrection power to come forth as I walk in victory. Now, I claim the peace of God that passes all understanding to rule my heart and life as I walk in health and healing.
You’re right Carolyn it’s what we allow. God has given us authority to overcome those “ites”. We can’t live an abundant life if we let the “ites” of our past affect us. Thank You Lord that You are our victory and we can have freedom in You!
