Today’s Tasting: Numbers 18-20 (MSG): God gave Aaron specific instructions on how to carry out the duties of the tent of meeting. God also gave Aaron the Levites to help as priests. The Levites were to help take care of the tent of meeting, but they were not allowed to enter the inner sanctuary or to work around the altar. Anyone who invaded the sanctuary was to be put to death. God also told Aaron not to allow the people of Israel to wander in and out of the tent of meeting. Aaron, his family, and the Levites would not have any land inheritance. Instead God made provisions for them from the offerings of the people as pay for their service. God instructed Moses and Aaron to burn a red cow and to keep the ashes in a ritually clean place outside the camp. The ashes were to be used in the Water of Cleansing.
In chapter 20 the people rose up against Moses and Aaron because there was no water. God spoke to Moses and Aaron and instructed them to assemble the people and speak to the rock in front of them, and water would come out for the people and their cattle to drink. But instead of speaking to the rock, Moses struck it with his rod. Because he did not do exactly as the Lord had said, Moses and Aaron were not allowed to take the people into the promised land. Aaron died on top of Mount Hor and the people mourned his death for 30 days.
Today’s Nourishment: If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord we also have been set apart like the Levites to serve God. “You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people…” (1 Peter 2:9 MSG). We all have been given different gifts and callings on our life but we all have the same purpose and that is to serve our Lord and Savior. As Christians, our inheritance is eternal life, and we are called to live for God to the best of our ability and follow after His word. When we disobey God and His word, then there are consequences as there were for Moses and Aaron. God wants us to live for Him and to love Him with our whole heart. We were created for His glory!
Dear Heavenly Father, I long to live for You and make You happy. I don’t always trust You like I should and sometimes I act out of fear. I am asking for help from your Holy Spirit to be obedient to You in all things. Help me to remain set apart for Your purpose and Your will. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, amen!
Think back on a time when you didn’t follow God’s instructions and it caused you to miss out on His blessings. We all mess up in life from to time. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect but He requires us to trust His instructions even when they don’t make sense.
In what area of your life do you need help trusting God? Leave a comment on this post so that we can lift you up in prayer.

Thanks so much for this, Chantea. I could definitely use prayer in this area, myself. Sometimes, I tend to move too fast and sometimes even too slow because of impatience, maybe even fear. I know I have to trust God though and that’s what I want to do.
Chantea, It is so difficult sometimes to wait on God’s timing. I find that when I son’t wait, I act out of fear. Your prayer was right on. Thanks for your post today that encourages me to keep trusting God.
It is amazing how the blog posts seem to fit with yesterday’s and tomorrow’s posts. Thank you guest bloggers for hearing the Holy Spirit speak to esteem Christ and encourage us as women and believers.
I too have been impatient and even fearful at times. I think those are two of our greatest hold backs I call them. Impatient because we want it to be what we want instead of following the Lord’s leading. Fearful that it might cost us something or not turn out the way we thought. In either case we serve a sovereign God who knows what is best and whatever happens is in His master plan. The word tells us In Ps 18:30 that His way is perfect. Father, I aim to trust You with my whole heart. Forgive me when I haven’t fully trusted in You, Holy Spirit lead me in the way that is best for me so that Your name may be glorified and I don’t miss out on the blessings You have for me and others. I praise You Lord!!!
