Today’s Tasting: Numbers 1-2: The Israelites had been wandering the desert for over a year already when God told Moses to take a census of the people of Israel, both the fighting men over the age of twenty, and the family groups, listed by tribe. The tribe of Levi was not to be counted with the other tribes. They were in charge of the Holy Tent of the Agreement and all the things with it. Anyone else who went near it would be put to death. The Lord also specified where each tribe should make their camps. The people obeyed the Lord in all the commands he had given to Moses.
Today’s Nourishment: In today’s tasting, we see that the Lord has selected the tribe of Levi to be in charge of the Holy Tent of Agreement and everything that went along with it. Although all the Israelites were to worship the Lord, the Levites were given this as their central task. Although we sometimes get lost in all the possibilities available to us in today’s world, this passage of Scripture can serve to remind us that the Lord has a plan and purpose for each of us. While some people appear to know from a very young age what they are to do with their lives, for others of us there may not be a straight path that leads to where we are meant to be. As I have struggled in my life to figure out what I am meant to be doing, I try to remember that each step along the way is leading me to where I am meant to be, even if at the time it does not seem to make sense. Have you been able to see in retrospect times where God has been leading you through an experience you didn’t understand that turned out to be important to your future? Has that made it easier to follow where he is leading you now?

Kaitlyn, yes there has been numerous occasions where God was leading me in a direction that absolutely made no sense but yet in the end they were some of the best growth experiences I’ve ever had in Him and I’m so grateful for them now. The longer I serve Him the more I’m learning to trust His leading. Thank You Father that everyday is a new day of growth and to trust in a sovereign God who knows the way before us better than we do!
Yes, there have definitely been times where I went through things and I thought to myself…and sometimes out loud, what in the world is the purpose of this?! It may have been months or even years later that God nudges me and let’s me know that this is why I went through that particular thing way back when. He’s God like that! It doesn’t always make sense at the time but God always has a purpose…and a plan! Thankful for that!
