Today’s Tasting: Exodus 13-15: Before God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians, He gave Moses some specific instructions. They were to dedicate their first-born sons and every first-born male animal to Him. And every year they were to celebrate the day they left Egypt, and tell their children about it so they would remember it forever. God led the Israelites through the wilderness instead of through the land of the Philistines so that they would not become scared and turn back. He guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. God warned Moses that He would harden Pharaoh’s heart one last time so that He could get the glory. So Pharaoh took his army and pursued the Israelites. When they saw the Egyptian army coming after them the people got scared. They cried to Moses, “Didn’t we tell you to leave us alone? And now you have brought us out here to die!” That night the Israelites camped at the red sea, with Pharaoh’s army behind them. God moved the pillar of cloud that had led the way for the Israelites so that it was between their camp and the Egyptians’ camp. Thus it became a cloud of darkness to the Egyptians but gave light to the Israelites. God told Moses to stretch his rod out over the sea and when he did, the sea was divided, forming a wall of water on the right and one on the left so that the Israelites could walk across on dry ground. All night the Israelites crossed the red sea, but when Pharaoh’s army also tried to cross through the middle of the sea, God told Moses to stretch his rod out again. Then the sea was closed back up and the water covered Pharaoh’s army so that none of them survived. The Israelites sang a song of praise to God for their deliverance.
Today’s Nourishment: This is what I imagine God saying to us today: “My desire is for you to dedicate the first part of each day to me. Give me the first part of your earnings. Give me the best of you. Though the enemy pursues you, he will never win against you. The enemy can’t use what I blessed you with to harm you. Use what I have given you and you will succeed. Don’t forget to praise Me. I give you success so that I may be glorified. It was Me who covered you. It was Me who kept you. It was Me who protected you from the enemy. I carried you so that you could praise Me. I gave you a testimony so that you would know just how powerful I really am. Come to Me and I will save you.”
Have you been in a situation like the Israelites were, with the sea stopping them from going forward and their enemy crowding in from behind? How did God provide for you? Did you doubt Him and become scared? We all get scared from time to time, and that’s okay. We are human. But we should also remember that God is our deliverer. He will not harm us. If you are currently in a “red sea” situation let this story encourage you. If He did it for the Israelites, then He will do it for you.
A prayer for today: Father, help me to give you the best part of me. Help me to celebrate all the victories that You have given me. Help me to share them with my children and others so that they will know just what kind of God I serve. Help me to realize that the enemy is fighting a battle that’s fixed and I just need to get in the right position in order to receive my victory. I will bless Your name at all times and Your praise shall continually be in my mouth. In the marvelous and matchless name of Jesus I pray, amen!

Amen Chantea, what a great devotion. I am in agreement that if God can deliver the Isrealites He can deliver us. He will keep His promise to not leave us and cover us if we are seeking and putting Him first. Like the old song says, “What a mighty God we serve”.
Chantea, I thank the Lord for His successes because they can only give Him glory. I have been in “Red Sea” situations, fearing that the waters might overtake me. But, praise His holy name, Jesus delivers.
What an encouraging word, that God is our victory when we trust him to deliver us.
Wow!! Chante, again, this is a timely word!! I needed this. I look forward to God’s successes!
