Today’s Tasting: Ezekiel 21-22
God gives Ezekiel a word of judgement for His people. God tells Ezekiel that no one will be spared from His destruction. The sins of Jerusalem were going to be punished. Despite the treaty they had with Babylon, the king will capture them and remind them of their rebellion. They had allowed orphans and widows to be wronged and oppressed. The leaders were corrupt. People falsely accused one another. Idol worship had become prevalent in the city and they rejected the laws of the Lord. Lewd activities were going on that were against God’s word. God told Ezekiel that He looked for a watchman that would stand in the gap for the people so that He would not destroy the land but He could not find one. They would feel the full penalty of their sin.
Today’s Nourishment: Ezekiel’s message was not a good one. The sins of the people had made God furious. The actions of Jerusalem seem a lot like the actions of the world today. The difference is we are under grace because of the cross. Jesus gave His life for us so that we didn’t have to give our life for the punishment of our sins. No matter what state you are in right now and regardless of the wrongs that you may have committed, you have the opportunity now to repent. You can turn back to God now and start over. His love never fails or runs out! Nothing can separate you from the love of God. He loves you so much that He extends His grace every day. He doesn’t give us what we deserve but instead gives us chance after chance to be in right standing with Him. The way we show our appreciation for His grace is in how we choose to live our lives. What does your lifestyle look like these days?
Father, I thank You for grace and mercy. I repent for all the times I took Your grace for granted and just did what pleased me, disregarding Your word and Your way. I know the error of my ways now and I want to live a life that is pleasing to You and only You. Holy Spirit, help me to turn my life around. Heal me everywhere I hurt. Remove things and people out of my life that lead me away from You. Create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit within me. Today Lord, I withhold nothing from You. Purify me Lord like a silversmith purifies gold. As a deer pants for the stream of water so my soul pants after You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Think about where you are in your life at this moment…
Does your life resemble Jerusalem?
If you can honestly say yes, then now is the time to start your turn around.
