Today’s tasting:
33 This is what the Lord Almighty says:
“The people of Israel are oppressed,
and the people of Judah as well.
All their captors hold them fast,
refusing to let them go.
34 Yet their Redeemer is strong;
the Lord Almighty is his name.
He will vigorously defend their cause
so that he may bring rest to their land,
but unrest to those who live in Babylon.
The Babylonians, at the height of their power, became prideful and thought they were invincible to the destruction that they caused. They had served God’s purpose [judgement on Judah] and were to be judged for their sins.
The Lord prophesied this downfall so that he could fulfill his promise to the faithful that they would be able to go home; that he will restore their lands and inheritance.
Today’s Nourishment: I would imagine that these faithful people surrounded by disaster – waiting for their time of restoration – must have been distressed and missing home.
The Lord continually expresses that yes; this is a time of destruction, of evil, where his “people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray and caused to roam on the mountains” [Jeremiah 50:6], but here he is exclaiming I am your Redeemer, Lord Almighty, and I am strong!
I could hear the words of a song, “Our God”, ringing in my ears when reading this exclamation from the Lord, “…and if our God is with us, then who could ever stop us… and if our God is with us, then who could stand against us…”
I want to share a great YouTube video of one of my favorite worship songs, Our God, by Chris Tomlin. It includes the lyrics to the song so sing along and start your day with some inspiration! Start your day with the profound knowledge that our Redeemer, Lord Almighty, is strong and that he can deliver you from any time of darkness.

Have faith that no force of darkness can stop God’s purpose and plan for your life.
