Today’s Tasting: 2 Kings 24-25; 2 Chronicles 36 KVJ
Judah is now going to begin receiving its punishment for all the wrong they did under the wicked kings. They are taken into Babylonian captivity and the temple of the Lord is destroyed. All the treasures in the temple are carried out and it is no longer the sacred place that Solomon built. The land has been destroyed and burned.
Today’s Nourishment: Judah had to suffer the consequences of their actions. They were warned, and yet they chose to ignore the word of Lord. They had plenty of opportunity to turn from their evil ways but they consistently refused.
It is a blessing to know that we are under grace and mercy. If you are reading this devotional, then you are a recipient of God’s grace. This grace is His free gift to us; however, we should always remember that it cost Him the life of His Son, Jesus. We have the opportunity now to turn away from our wrong doing and come to God through Jesus Christ. We can come with a sincere heart to confess that we are sorry for our wrong and begin to live right for Him. By His Spirit, Jesus lives in our hearts.
Father, I thank You! For You do not give me what I deserve, but You extend Your grace and mercy daily to me. I thank You for sparing my life and giving me another opportunity to get right with You. Lord, I have done wrong and I ask that You forgive me. I don’t want to live in captivity any longer to my sins. I want to live the abundant life that Jesus died for me to enjoy. Holy Spirit, lead me into a holy lifestyle for the glory of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What would this world be like if we still lived in the times of this passage?
Can you think of a time when your disobedience to God caused you to suffer in a particular situation?
We have all lived in such a situation, so please don’t think you are alone. I could write a whole novel with several sequences on this subject.
Thank God for His grace and mercy, which He offers us each day!
