Today’s Tasting: In this section of Jeremiah, chapters four-six, we see God cleansing and bringing judgment upon Jerusalem. We see God giving Judah an opportunity to get right with Him. However, we see them refusing God’s correction and warnings.
The people had forsaken God and continued to worship idols. The prophets were prophesying falsely and the priests were ruling by their own power. They rejected God’s word and His laws–basically they became rebellious against the truth they knew.
Today’s Nourishment: What a challenging few chapters today to see God’s people so defiant against Him.
Does it sound familiar to today? We live in a world that is defying God and removing Him daily from all aspects of our lives. We are called to be in this world, but not of this world. So, we need to be set apart from the popular thinking in today’s society.
It is critical as Christians that we maintain our stand on the truth of God’s word. We need to understand that popular trends may not be in line with godly standards. I tend to follow, if the world gets excited about it, then I most likely need to stay away from it.
We need to make a choice today, if we will stand for God and His word or stand in this world? We cannot have it both ways. The day is coming when we will all stand before God for judgment and if we are luke-warm, He will spit us out. I know it is hard sometimes to be different and not go with the flow. However, it is better to be different than be asked by God in the end what were you thinking.
Is your heart right with God? What areas of your life do you need to surrender to God and get right? Do an inventory today and get real with God!
