Today’s Tasting: Hosea 1-7 (MSG)
God told Hosea to marry a wife who had slept with multiple men and to bare children with this woman. Although Israel lived as unfaithful and unrepentant, God showed mercy, but He also punished Israel for their unfaithfulness. Hosea redeemed his wife, which was a picture of God redeeming Israel.
Today’s Nourishment:
Hosea has always been a rather interesting Bible story to me. I mean, I’ve always thought to myself why would God tell someone to marry a prostitute and have prostitute children. But, God had a plan! The older I grew, the more this story unfolded differently. You see, it kind of reminds me of God and us as Believers.
We have a merciful God. Yet, we choose and sometimes continuously to “cheat” on Him with other gods in our modern day society, whatever or whoever they may be. Our nation, as a whole is in a mess right now because as a country, we are doing the same thing that is spoken of in Hosea. It’s sounds harsh, but as merciful as our God is, He is also a God who chastises his people when needed. In Hosea, God punished Israel for their unfaithfulness and their state of unrepentant hearts. He is a God of mercy and JUSTICE. He has the final say.
Let’s keep the body of Christ and our nation and it’s leaders in our prayers. We need to be doers of 1 Chronicles 7:14 like never before saints!
