Today’s Tasting: Genesis 19-21
God made Abraham a promise. And even with all that happened—the sinfulness of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot’s seduction by his daughters, Abraham’s deception of Abimelech, and even Hagar having Abraham’s son Ishmael—God still kept His promise to Abraham.
Today’s Nourishment:
As I pondered these verses, it became more apparent to me that God always keeps His word, no matter what. God destroyed an entire city because the sin of the people who lived there was so great. Yet He spared Lot and his family, not because they were godly people, but because He had made a promise to Abraham and He’s a God of His word. Sarah, Abraham’s wife bore him a son in their old age. God even protected Abraham’s mistress Hagar and their son Ishmael! Why? Because, He had made a promise to Abraham! In the midst of all these sinful events, God kept his word. He held to his promises.
So, no matter what you may be going through at this time in your life, though things may seem to be falling apart around you, and you may not see a light at the end of the tunnel just yet, remember to hold on to God’s word, His promises. The Scriptures tell us God does not lie (see Titus 1:2). He ALWAYS, ALWAYS keeps His promises! God will do just what He said He would do! That’s where our hope lies!
In what areas of your life do you feel that you really need to cling to God’s promise today? Find that promise in His word and STAND on it!

I’m so glad that God’s Word never fails! I often remind myself of his promises and that faith works through the Word.
Thank God He is a promise keeper in spite of us!
