Today’s Tasting: In these chapters of Chronicles, David is giving structure and organization to those who will serve in the temple. He organizes the Levites, the Priest, and the Musicians according to the house of their father.
Today’s Nourishment: Having been raised with my family traveling in evangelism, we were in and out of churches all the time. Some of the churches we visited were immaculate, so clean you could probably eat off the floor (not that we would do that but you know what I mean). While others were not so cared for and those congregations acted as if they didn’t care about the upkeep of their church, saying things like “Oh, it’s just a building“. Even though I was young, I would think to myself, “this not just a building, it’s where we worship God and it should be taken care of“.
Now, I’m not talking about the size of the building or the amount of people in the congregation, because that is not what is important. I’m simply saying that we should take care of our places of worship, treat them like we treat our own homes and/or personal possessions. Our reading today shows us that God is indeed a God of order and He pays attention to detail. He was so concerned with the care of the temple, he gave instruction to David as to whose sons were responsible for what duties…casting lots until every single one of them was counted.
While taking care of God’s house as a building or structure is necessary and important, Believers have become the temple of the Holy Spirit. How do you care for the temple of the Holy Spirit?
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body (1 Corinthian 6:19-20 ESV).

Getting in the word everyday is essential and I try to eat better and exercise. I believe prayer is the key, without prayer we can’t hear from Him. It’s the open door that leads to Him. Lord forgive us when we don’t take care of the temple and take out time spent in prayer. Thank You Father that You never leave us You’re always waiting with open arms!
