Today’s Tasting: Acts 20-23
The disciples are ministering in Greece, Troas, Miletus and Ephesus. As we move into chapter 21, we see warnings for Paul not to go back to the city of Jerusalem because of persecution. Paul addresses their concerns, letting them know that he is ready for whatever may happen in the name of the Lord.
In chapter 21, Paul is arrested for delivering God’s message. Those opposed to Paul’s message beat him. As they were taking Paul away, he asked to speak to the people and he does so in their own tongue. As Paul shares his story with them from when he was called Saul. They still end up taking him away and scourging him, until he tells them he is a Roman citizen. Fear came upon them for they had bound a Roman Soldier. Paul, then, speaks as to God’s judgment upon them for their actions. This caused dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees (religious sects in the community. They plotted against Paul to kill him.
Today’s Nourishment: Today, we see a great challenge facing Paul, including some major decisions. Paul had to decide if he was going to follow what God had called him to do or be paralyzed in fear and do nothing.
Do you face decisions like that in your daily walk with the Lord? Perhaps not to the extreme that Paul did. However, decisions have an impact on your faith.
We, too, must decide if we are all in for the Lord, as we cannot be dangling our feet on the wall in fear or indecision. Some have said, “The faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted.” What does that mean?
Often, we are faced with decisions just like Paul. We know opposition will arise, but do we honor God’s direction, do we stay, or do we go? That is a challenging question. While it may be easier to not follow through with the calling, if we are out of God’s will, we miss the blessings God has for us. One thing I know for a fact, if God has said to move a certain direction, even if I do not FEEL equipped, HE will equip me to complete what HE has called me to do.
The Bible tells us in Psalms that His ways are not our ways! It is beyond our understanding. I challenge you today (as I challenge myself as well) are you moving in what God has shown you no matter what is on the other side or have you allowed fear to paralyze you? Pray today and ask God to help you, He will help you “Beyond Your Understanding!”
